So You Think You Can Dance, Season 7 - Top 6 2.0 Results

After three weeks of injuries, non-eliminations and overall confusion in the world of So You Think You Can Dance, I think we can breathe a little sigh of relief. Things are getting back to normal, at least for now.
The evening began with a bizarre, quirky and fantastic group number from the mind of Mia Michaels featuring Allison in a strange Wonderland-like world, though a little less literal than Nappy Tabs' routine last season. We haven't seen Mia choreograph much this season - the Meet the Top 11 episode (Ade/Billy/Alex) and the heaven-themed group number for the Top 8 results - and it reminded me why we liked her so much in the first place. Can we start a petition now to get Mia off the judging panel and back in the studio as a choreographer? Not that I don't enjoy critiques like "it was like a purple mist" or "it was like a donut hole," but if we could get some more of this brilliance on the stage every week I'd be happy.

The guest performance ratio was a little off this week: 2 musical performances and only one dance performance. But what a dance performance it was! Call me crazy, but I'm actually excited for Step Up 3D - the dancing looks pretty incredible and, fine, I wouldn't mind seeing Twitch in 3D. As for that horrendous performance by Christian TV - I just walked away from that disaster. And though I adore Allison "The Rocker" Iraheta, she sounded more than a little rough singing "Don't Waste the Pretty" with Orianthi last night (you should still download the song, though, it's quite amazing).

When it came time to deliver the results, Billy Bell and Jose were unsurprisingly ushered into the penalty box. And then my weekly "WTF?!" moment came about as Adechike sailed smoothly into safely for the seventh week in a row. Ugh. And then it came down to Lauren versus Robert - since I voted for Robert 50 times and I knew there was no way Lauren would be eliminated over either Billy Bell or Jose, I literally jumped off the couch and clapped when Robert was announced safe. Finally. See, kids, your vote does count!

After three incredibly different solos (Jose FTW - his solos have gotten better every week), it was decision time. No surprise here - Billy Bell and Jose had reached the end of the line. To be honest, they really reached the end of the line last week but were allowed 7 days to coast.

And now, my friends, we have a Top 4: Robert, Lauren, Kent and... ugh... Adechike. The judges will no longer decide who will be eliminated - it's all up to our votes to see who makes the Finale. Get your phones ready, next Wednesday is going to be a looooooong night!

What did you think of last night's results? Are you as perplexed as I am that Adechike has never once been in the Bottom Three? Are you planning on seeing Step Up 3D? And what are your plans for celebrating National Dance Day tomorrow?! Sound off in the comments!
