Trailer Tuesdays: Megamind

Yes, I know. This Trailer Tuesday post is tardy for the party. I thought I could get away with it if it was still Tuesday on some remote island near the International Date Line, but no such luck. You can call this Watch This Wednesday if you'd like. Or, you could quit arguing semantics with me and check out this awesome trailer.

Megamind is the latest animated feature from the crew at DreamWorks. And while Pixar is undoubtedly the king of computer animation, DreamWorks certainly has some great animated films under its belt (Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, etc) that leave me confident in its offerings.

This movie brings together the voices of some comedic greats—Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross—and the always-charming-even-if-it's-just-his-voice Brad Pitt. It seems to combine the super hero awesomeness of The Incredibles and the anti-hero/villain transformation feel of the recent and amazing Despicable Me. In fact, under the category of odd coicidence: Gru's henchmen in Despicable Me were called minions, Megamind's sidekick is named Minion.

Now the question is: to 3D or not to 3D? I go back and forth on this topic, and tend to decide on a movie-by-movie basis. Whereas Pixar's latest offerings (Up, Toy Story 3) have subtly used 3D to creating more intricate and beautiful worlds and Despicable Me's final scene wouldn't have been nearly the same without a pair of 3D glasses, How to Train Your Dragon and Alice in Wonderland left me wondering why I bothered to dish out extra money.

What do you think, dear readers? Are you excited for Megamind? Do you plan on seeing it in 3D? And is "Highway to Hell" going to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day?
