Last night's ABC scheduling was a bit of a mess due to Obama's speech at the memorial for the Tuscon shootings. When all was said and done, we had a new episode of Modern Family, 10 minutes of an old one and then Cougar Town was completely skipped in favor of the series premiere of Shonda Rhimes' new series Off the Map.
So as we mourn the lack of Drink Tank Think Tanks this week, let's take a look at last night's best Modern Family moments...
Season 2, Episode 12: "Our Children, Ourselves"
Mitchell fears he may have a son from a heterosexual fling he had at a high school reunion years ago and Jay insults a boring couple they met on vacation who have come to visit. Meanwhile, Claire worries she and Phil aren't smart enough to compare to the parents of Alex's school rival. (Fun Fact: This episode was directed by none other than my twin Adam Shankman!)
"Yeah, these are characters from musicals. You’re so gay you can’t even think of real girls’ names." - Mitchell, who becomes a naughty little girl when you give him Kaluha.So... no. Not the best episode. It felt a little forced, and the Gloria/Jay/Manny storyline was way more awkward than funny. Hopefully next week we'll be back on track (and hopefully Cougar Town returns!). What did you think, dear readers?
"Mitchell, I need to have my reaction." - Cam, who definitely didn't hook up with Kim MacAfee.
"Usually you get a new cast around #5… that's when the magic really happens." - Phil, the #1 fan of Croctopus.
"Why do I have to watch a French movie? I didn't do anything wrong!" - Phil, who doesn't know any Sanjays, but knows three Miltons.
"You may be cool… but I'm wine cooler!" - Claire, who was impressed by the Twix up Phil's sleeve.
