The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards aired live on CBS last night and awarded the "best" of the "best" in music. I'm not a huge Grammy fan—the sheer volume of categories overwhelms and confuses me and I'd much rather spend that time crossing off movies from my Oscar list (this weekend was Animal Kingdom and The Town).
That being said, every year there are a handful of Grammy performances that can't be missed (like last year's Lady Gaga and Elton John duet). So if, like me, you boycotted the Grammy's last night, check out these memorable spectacles...
Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow, "Forget You"
Forget the horrid intro by Jamie Foxx—the doo-wop Muppet backup singers totally made up for it. Cee Lo looked like a giant turkey, but with a song like this, why not have some fun with it?! I am also glad to know that Gwyneth did not receive her Honorable Mention for "Best Diva Moment" in my Glee Fall Superlatives for nothing—she definitely held her own up there!
Lady Gaga, "Born This Way"
Having only released the song three days prior (listen to it here), what better way to keep the momentum going than with a stunning performance? She sounded great belting out the song (sans Auto Tune, thank you very much) while dancing in those heels and whipping her hair back and forth. Werq. Also, kudos to the backup dancers for letting me have it!
What did you think of these two performances? Did you watch the telecast last night? Any other notable performances worth catching? Sound off in the comments!
