ConDRAGulations: 2011 Creative Arts Emmys

The big talk around town this week is about the upcoming Emmy Awards, a night which will celebrate the best of the best of television (with a few surprises and glaring omissions, of course). This past Saturday the party started with the 2011 Creative Arts Emmys—known lovingly by Kathy Griffin fans as the Schmemmys—awarding the best in technical and behind-the-scenes disciplines, as well as Outstanding Reality Program, Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program and the guest acting awards.

Over 75 categories were celebrated at the event, an edited version of which will air on ReelzChannel this Saturday, so instead of listing off all of the winners, I'll just highlight a few of the most exciting ones. Join me in sending all of them a hearty Condragulations!

Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series: Gwyneth Paltrow, Glee
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series: Justin Timberlake, Saturday Night Live
Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series: Loretta Devine, Grey's Anatomy
Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series: Paul McCrane, Harry's Law
Outstanding Choreography: Mia Michaels, So You Think You Can Dance; Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo, So You Think You Can Dance
Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program: Disney Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa
Oustanding Individual Achievement in Animation: Drew Hodges, Community (among others)
Outstanding Main Title Design: Game of Thrones
Outstanding Reality Program: Deadliest Catch
Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program: Jeff Probst, Survivor

Of course, I'm incredibly upset that Cat Deeley didn't win for her consistently spectacular job as the host of So You Think You Can Dance, but that is matched with the excitement that Community actually won an Emmy! Of course, it was for one of the animators on "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas," but at this point I guess you take 'em where you can.

This officially begins the Emmy Week coverage here on Please Welcome Your Judges. Keep your eye out for predictions, ballots and more leading up to Sunday's big event!
